Kamran Riaz

Dr. Kamran Riaz - Ophthalmologist with Extensive Research Experience

Dr. Kamran Riaz is an ophthalmologist with experience in complex eye surgeries. A member of the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons Clinical Committee, Dr. Kamran Riaz is a clinical associate professor and medical student director at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

After earning his MD at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Riaz practiced at Benjamin Eye Care in La Grange. He then accepted the position of assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Chicago and oversaw the refractive surgery program on campus. He earned the Residents’ Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018.

Extensively published in his field, Dr. Riaz also authored more than a dozen chapters in the textbook A Clinical Atlas of Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (Elsevier Publishing, 2024). In 2020, he was the first practitioner at the University of Oklahoma to perform a HumanOptics artificial iris implant. Dr. Riaz has earned distinction from Oklahoma Magazine as one of its “40 Under 40 2021” and from the Journal Record as one of its “Achievers Under 40 - Class XVIII.”
